The Sciton ProfileTM laser uses an Nd:YAG 1064 wavelength laser. This longer wavelength allows the laser energy to penetrate into the deeper areas of the upper skin layer, thus reaching more and deeper blood vessels than shorter wavelength lasers.
During treatment, a clear cool glass plate is placed over the skin where the laser work is done. This helps to protect the surface of the skin before, during, and after the laser destroys the undesired blood vessels.
